PORTFOLIO SHOWCASE
To all students of grade 9:
On the 16th of May, there will be a "Show Case Portfolio"
session with the parents.
The third trimester section of the portfolio should include:
1. Reflection on the theme " Human Relationships"
2. Reflectios on " The Interlopers", "Mending Wall" and "The Scalet Ibis"
3. reflection on the "Book Of Your Choice"
ARTICLES and CRITIQUES: The portfolio should include 4 articles based on the theme and then write a critique for each one.
The last page of the prtfolio should be a personal reflection about this year: goals, expectations, friends, stress etc....
You may work on the cover of your portfolio to personalize it!

Plan for third trimester:
On March 1,we started working on aprt II of "The Odyssey" . This section will be completed by March 8.
On March 5,I will return the essays of the interdisciplinary project and the literature quiz.
On Mach 19,I will introduce the short story" The Scarlet Ibis".
For the Mock Brevet, you need to review ch 15 from the Elements of Language( phrases and clauses); in adition, you need to study all the notes from your binder.

Hope you are ALL enjoying your winter break.
The discussion of the book A Summer to Die was very fruitful and productive.Review the notes and make sure you have chosen specific moments to support your positions.
Prior to watching the film "Dead Poets Society", you were given three questions to help you focus the discussions around the themes of the unit.Do review your notes and also think of specific moments to support your answers to the questions.
On Wednesday the 15th of february, we will wrap up the "Cyclops". The graphic organizers of this episode should clearly mention the decisions and behaviour of the epic hero.
On Monday the 22nd of February,Mrs Sabra and I will introduce the interdisciplinary challenge.

Teens' challenges
To all the students of Grade 9:
I would like to congratulate you all on the excellent and extremely creative analysis of Catcher in the Rye.
Literature:
-The week of January 23rd will focus on elements of poetry as mentioned before.But, I would like you to research or to write your own poems related to "Teens and their Challenges". Post your work here!
Grammar:
-This week, the students will be working on adverbial and noun clauses (ch 15).
Portfolio;
-Dont forget to write you reflections!!
